I wrote H Husted a letter yesterday and it is not yet decided as both Armies hold about the Same position that they did on Saturday Morning It is useless for me to try to give you any of the particulars at this time as we can get any Kind of news from the front that we want. Gen Longstreet is here with his Corps from the Army of the Potomic and was pitted for the last two days against Our much beloved Corps Commander Gen Crittenden and we must acknowledge that we have met foe men worthy of Our Steel. When I say we I do not mean that Our Brigade was in the fight, for it was not, as we are posted in Chattanooga, and whether we will be in it at all or not I cannot tell but I presume not. Longstreet made a great many desperate and Valient charges on to Critenden Yesterday and in many places drove our men but then in many other cases they ware repulsed with terrible Slaughter. We have lost a great amount of Artillery and have also captured considerable but
