Crawford County [Ia? Pa?] Aprile 18th 1861 Dear brother and Sister I take my pen to wright A few lines to you and let you know that we are all well at preasent with the execptions of some bad colds George and Mary has got but I think they will soon be well and I hope these lines will find you engoying the same blesings we have not had much snow this winter but A Good many Cold days and the wheat looks but midling we have had sum good weather but too day and yesterday it is snowing Matthew and his father is away at the techers [examin?] to day and yesterday Matthew thinks of taking a school next winter if he can he has got A good cirtificat he has went six monts to the acadamy last fall and winter which gave him A good start we had Hellen Stewart teaching our school last winter. mary Stewart was teaching two they are getting along very well little Henry left us yester day and unkle Davids three dogs the friends is all well as far as I know and Margret if you and Matthew would come and see us how glad we would bee for I am very lonsom since you and our brother is gon but we hope he made a good chang John and me both staid with him in his last moments and he was very patient in his sufferings and we hope he has died the deth of the rightous and we must give him up but it makes me very lonsome you and him
