Aug 21 1861 861471 Brother John I take this Opportunity to send you A fiew lines we ar all well Margret she has ben shaking [with?] the ague the last too weeks [?] [?] [and?] the rest of [us?] [saturday?] [went to see?] robert and mary white last week they ar all well they got a letter from you and ishmel the same time he said they was all wel and at birds point wee heard that you was in spring field. I forgot to mention your letters we got one yesterday and one today you rote for some money. i went down to [hernes?] for some and he said hee had paid you off write how it is John white is here now and is going to settle things before he leaves Cox promised to fetch some money up today for you but hee hasent came yet. Captain
