861477 Potosi Mo Aug 27 /61 Well Steward I received your letter yesterday evening and was glad to hear from you we hear from there allmost evry day by evry ones letter you stated about the washington [rifles?] going I think there soon wont be any Washington Co if 2 or 3 more [Comp.?] leaves we are al wel that is here we are now about 30 miles north of Pilots Knob at a place called Potosi we came here last saturday night at 12 oclock we left 8 or 10 at Camp garrison who was not able to Come along but nothing serious the matter John Thomas was sick but he is getting better John Vanatta is at St Louis yet he is getting well we are in a good place now we have something to do here it is nearly all sesesion but they had to leave and we
