September 24th. 1861 Mr John mcdouel I received I received a leter from you and J Shields from petosi and was very glad to hear from you and that you ware wel and I hope that you are stil enjoying the same we are all very throng hear now we are working our cane now thiare was some garls at the camp last night and the made tafy and eate til tafy til tha ware so sweet I sepose you have herd that alex Trinble and caroline are maryed I have very litle mews to wrrite Thare was another compeny left hear yesterday J moore [rest of line has been torn off]
