Am for peace and to get home I would Rather spend another year them cry peace first it is a nough to cry peace when they offer propersitions and try to come on terms untill them Iisay fight the Rebels as long as we are able. two of our gun Boats ram the Blockade one last week and anothe this week the rebels fired a great many shots at them without doing any damage one of the Boats a ram, ran into a rebel transport Loaded with hogs & cattle and sunk her the men that were aboard were saved there was several officers aboard which were sent up the river to Memphis. there is great preperations making here and there is a great many Soldiers & Negros working on the cannal there are cutting it seventy feet wide and will be completed in about two weeks then the Boats will be able to pass the Blockade without any danger and entill then I dont think they will be any thing done to wards an attact we have a
