THURSDAY, AUGUST 4, 1864. Revielle 2 O'Clock in Morning Boots & Saddles daylight - but having to take the Rear did not get under headway before 9 O'Clock. it taking the div. that length of time to pass. Made many and numerous halts and about 9 O'Clock at night went into Camp. Ord Berry Co. "D" was put under arrest stripes taken of by Maj Thayer and (Vertically. at right:-) made walk [for?] and cleaning Horses. Distance [From?] 15 ms. FRIDAY 5 Remained in Camp until noon when our Brig moved Some Seven (7) miles on the Marietta & Sweet Water Road Some Six (6) Miles from Sandtown on the Chattahoocha River whre the Rebs are in Force Can hear Cannonading at atlanta. weather warm Corn in Roasting oats. Rained very slightly. SATURDAY 6 Arranging Camp and men put up quarters. Rained very heavy all afternoon, in a Very mountainous Country. Are Engaged picketing and scouting - Capt Platt Co. "D" Lt Borland & 24 Men were surprised in a scout in Cherochie Co. Ga. and all captured Except Capt & two men.
