DECEMBER. 28. Wednesday Our rations are enough only for one scant meal, but we make two of them, We are compelled to sleep on the damp cold sand Severe colds are numerous among us, Rations shorter to day than usal 29. Thursday Weather cold & disagreeable we sit around our scanty fires shivering and hungry, thinking of what good times we might enjoy, were we permitted to be at Home We endeavor at ways to keep a stiff uper lip 30. Friday Reorganize camp in systamatic form, Weather moderates Our rations now consist of a small portion of corn bread beans and beef - occasionaly a little soup
