Memphis Tenn Aug. 1st 1864 My Dear Sister Your kind note was reced and read with no small share of pleasure and interest - since my visit home I have been more anxious to hear from you. I was glad to hear you had been enjoying your self so well. But how shal I write a letter? there has been nothing new happened here since I wrote before and you know I cannot compose a letter except from matter of facts. I am now doing my regular routine of Camp duties every day I have the same long list of familiar names to call, every day the same reports to make, infact every day I do just what I did the day before. it is a very monotonous kind of life
