quite near the enemy's in front of our division not more than a hundred yards intervening. Other parts of the line moving up. Engineers ordered to Chattanooga. 11 7 deserters came in. They wouldn't fire (Vertically at right:-) on Enemy as ordered. Engineers left. Our Reg sent out to the "dead line" as the boys call our works in front, A rather quiet day. Stray balls come into camp frequently. Hatfield of Co "K" and [Wash?] Irving Co I wounded. Irving mortally. Regt came in in evening Our boys bury the 18" Regulars.
