Thurs 5 A cold rainy blustering night. We in the tents enjoyed it finely while the fellows who played off the night before were out in the weather, 38th get ready to go on foraging, but the weather being too bad A bad day [Friday] 6 Our regt start at 4 in morning on foraging expedition Went 11 miles were successful got in at 9[?] The roads are getting cut up very badly Sat 7 At 4 PM
