Batteries came up not being able to cross yesterday Papers gave the regular brigade the credit of taking Hoover's gap, slurring us, Boys mount the cracker wagons as they pass Brannan is yelled at &c, At 10 A M Rousseau moves out We lie still till 3 then start out but return and pitch tents (Vertically at left, over entry:-) Batteries for [?] in [causeway?] 5th We awful hungry, but draw a few crackers to-day Will stay here till rations come up, Willison of Co D shot by accident Rain Rain Rain 6th Valentine of Co E shot by accident Miserable rainy and muddy. Our train yet reported on the north side of the river, and it still raising A great deal of complaining among the boys, but still their patriotism is unshaken, 7th, Orders to police the camps but Col L concluded to move which we did at 9 A.M, to a nice field, and formed a good camp An order against mouth organ playing, Heard news of Lee's defeat in.Virginia Salute fired.
