by a battery in each division 20000 prisoners & 110 guns goes the report Saw Col. Walker on business 8th. Were awakened by a salute from a battery in honor of the capture of Vicksburgh which surrendered on the 4th Almost to much good news at once to believe it all. At 10 we struck tents and moved 1 1/2 miles piched tents in a beautiful place, Fixed up for a stay No rations, boys almost in a starving condition Camp guard ordered Our whole division in this field, 9th.) All very hungry I havnt eaten since yesterday noon Weather warm At noon we drew some crackers and indeed we needed them Rations finaly came in and brought out our good humor Many reports from our armies 10th. All quiet, firing up camp. Drew some poor bacon 11 Co H on picket east of camp near brig hd qrs, Drew some rations, cheering news continues to come in, from our armies
