77 Denison Iowa May 17th. 1879. The Denison Total Abstinence Union met as per Adjournment. Regular Officers present. Meeting opened by singing and prayer by the Rev. Mr. Ward. Minutes of the last evening read and approved. Select reading by Mr. Partridge. Question for discussion next taken up, to wit -- Resolved that the United States would be benefited by allowing women to vote on the Liquor Question. Judges Mrs. Familton, Mrs. E.S. Plimpton and Rev. Mr. Ward. Mrs Weldon opened on the affirmative followed by Mr. [Greetus?] and Mr. [Shawvan?] on the negative. The Judges decided in favor of the affirmative. Mr French who was appointed to speak was absent. On request of the President the Constitution and By Laws was read by the President. Programme for the next meeting. Select reading by Miss Kate Laub
