12 Copy of the Answere Miss Jennie Bailey Grinnell Iowa Dear Friend: -- I wish to acknowledge the message from the Womens' Christian Temperance Union of Grinnell, I favor all this proposed temperance legislation which you have mentioned. However, I doubt at this time the advisability of forcing a vote on the constitutional amendment bill from a standpoint of temperance legislation and from a political standpoint. Yours very truly (Signed) Ralph Sherman. /--------/-------/------- Hon. H. W. Spaulding Des Moines Iowa. Dear Sir: -- The Women's Christian Temperance Union of Grinnell Iowa voted to request your ardent and aggressive support of one temperance Resolution and four temperance Bills before the present Iowa State Legislature: Namely, (1) House Joint Resolution No 11 - By Dawson (2) House File No 25 - By Powers (3) House File No 169 - By Huntly (4) House File No 173 - By Brockway (5) House File No 368 - By Bliss. We believe that the passage of these Bills will greatly aid the cause of temperance. Knowing well your strong temperance princeiples, we shall watch for your name among the "yeas" when the votes on these Bills are taken.
