Water Sponge Cake Beat together the yolks of 4 eggs, 2 cups sugar & the juice & grated rind of 1 lemon. Add 1/2 teaspoonful soda dissolved in 1/2 cups water, The whites of 4 eggs beat stiff - 2 cups flour, into which 1 teaspoonful cream tartar has been thoroughly mixed.
