60. Sear Cloath for Ifsues Half a p:d Yellow Wax, Quart:r p:d Venice Turpentine 4 oz: Red Lead finely powdred half an oz; Oris Roots powder'd cut the wax & put it into a Pan with the Turpent: & set 'em on a slow fire, it must not boyl, W:n tis melted, put in the Red Lead & Oris & some vermilion, keep it constantly stirring with a stick & w:n you dip in your Cloath, squeeze 'em between two Knives to keep 'em smooth, & keep it stirring till you have done Dipping, you may put 3 or 4 Grains Musk, to keep away any offensive Smell, be Carefull to Rowl the Cloths very smooth 61. The Countefs of Kents Powder Powder of Coral, Pearl, Crabs Eyes [Beros?] all finely powdered of each an oz; the black part of Crabs Claws finely powderd, 3 oz: mix these powders on a Marble with the Extracts of Safron, w:ch is thee take an oz of the best Safron & put to it a little Damask Rose water, mix it till the water is of a Deep Colour, pour it of & put on more of the Rose water, & so do till all the Goodnefs is quit of the safron, then grind the powders, with this an hour, let it be moist, then lay it in Glafses & set it in a Stove to dry, then moisten it again & so do till the Tincture is all used, & w:n tis dry, grind it to powder, then take 4 Vipers Skins, cut 'em in peices & put 'em in a new pipkin, with a pint of Water, close it with [Rose?] paste, & let it infuse till more than half the water is wasted, strain it and mix it by, till you hase made the Jelly of hartshorn, to 3 quarters of a pound of hartshorn 3 quarts of water, boil'd to half a pint, strain it & mix the 2 Jelly's together, then take the powder of 2 Vipers hearts & heads & half an half of the Flesh, dry all together till you see it all of a Colour, then grind 'em for 2 hours & make it into balls dry'em in a stove, if you find to moist, you may set before the Fire to Dry
