Camp McClellan Davenp., Iowa Nov., 18th '64 Dear Sister Ellen: I this morning appropriate a few minute to let you know how I am & also how my health is. My health is good this morn., aftering standing guard all my term at the substitute door, or in other words a slang phrase "bull pen door" this is a pretty strict guard post, no one admitted without a pass in or out of the pen, this substitute business is nigh played out in case of another draft being ordered I hope it will, for the broadcloth & [Cap.?], all live sub., now I tell you sister the democrats change very quick in their principal, when in Camp a week or two they can't see
