To dye purple Buy 6 pennyworth of [Archek?], 2 pennyworth of alum 2 penny worth of pearl ash - Boil the [anhek?] & alum together in 4 qts of water then strain it. Dip it & dry it each time 4 or 5 times till it is a deep red color take the 2 penny worth of pearl ash boil it in 2 qts of water strain if off & put the muslin in when dry into the mix till cool it may be pressed or [illegible] out
