52. it will not begin to work for a day or two after it is put into the Cask - Be sure to keep it from the Frost in winter - Directions for using the [new?] improved Washing Mill - 1st wet the Clothes all over and wring them very dry and spread them on a Table to Soap them which need only be done to the parts [illegible] dirty parts and the harder the soap the better 2nd The water must absolutely be Boiling each time for all kinds of white Clothes it being so much more powerful in extracting the dirt. The quantity of water should not exceed 5 gallons - place the Clothes length ways in the washer and not to occupy above a 3rd part of the Space 3rd Once Clothes may require to be taken out wring very dry and spread on a Table as before to be Soaped and when any part remains not effectually clean which may be the case with Collars and wristbands of Shirts or feet of Stockings.
