55 It may be necessary to rub these a little when Soaping but most other things need no hand rubbing as the Soaping and machine is general completes them - 4th The time necessary for [turning?] the Clothes is 10 minutes the first time, 8 minutes the second -- Soaping the Clothes the preceding day will be found an advantage as it requires no addition of Fire for heating the water unless in [illegible] weather. The Clothes should be steeped 12 hours at least before they are wrung for Soaping --
