All Spice 1/4 lb Cloves 1/4 Lb Gum Benzoin 1 oz [Anice?] Root, 1/4 oz Cypress 1 lb Bay Salt 1/4 lb moist Sugar - These [spiecrie?] must all be finely pounded together The All Spice and cloves by them selves - Lay a layer of Rose leaves in an earthen jar with a layer of [spiecries?] alter nately cover it close down and set it in a cellar or damp place stirring it occasionally Lavender or other sweet blossoms may be added also Musk or Bergamot.
