4 162 Mrs Hoggs Receipe for [Fits?] in Children one ounce of Cochineal dissolved in half an English pint of Boiling water, let it stand ten minutes then strain it off thro a piece of thin muslin put it into a Phial with a large Tea-spoonful of Magnesia Make it and give two tea-spoonfuls of it one hour and two of Manna the next untill the urine is a little coloured with it - Dr. Hamiltons prescription for [Obstinate?] Looseness in Children - Child 2 1/2 years - 1 Grain of Calomel at night and 5 grains of toasted rhubarb next morning - toasted Oat-meal porridge - Bathed frequently in Warm Water - To wear flannel next the Skin - beware of toasting the meal too much - the Calomel & Rhubarb must be repeated 2 or 3 times until the Stools are of a Natural coulour - and then a Clyster of fine Starch may be given once or twice - when a looseness has continued for some time, it is apt to become a habit, and goes on frequently from no other Cause to restore the perspiration is the first object, and for this purpose the Belly in particular must be well covered with flannel -
