Soda Cakes 1 lb of Flour, 1/2 lb of Butter, 3/4 of Currants 6 oz of moist Sugar 3 oz of Candid Lemon. half a Nutmeg and any other spice you like. 3 Eggs & a small teaspoonful of Carbonate of Soda, dissolved in less than a gill of new Milk. Mix the whole well together and bake in a slow oven one hour and three quarters Aug 8th 1842 Delia went to Wisbeck Gaillaird Take 1/2 a Cows head well stewed down to a Jelly, meat as well, pick out the bones, then slice a fowl and some Ham - place the two latter in a Mould, and season the Jelly and meat with a little Mace, Cayenne, pepper, & Salt then pour it on the slices of Ham & Fowl
