Mother Movely's New England Loaf Cake 3 cups warm milk 2 " sugar 1 large cup yeast or #2 cakes of yeast Potatoes boiled & mashed make yeast better. Stir these together with flour enough to make a batter thick as you can stir with a spoon. Let it rise well (over night) Then add 2 cups sugar 2 " butter work these to a cream Whites of 2 eggs 1 nutmeg, raisins & citron. Work it well for 3/4 of an hour. 4 loaves Put in 4 round tins & let it rise light. Bake in a moderate oven. #Try 2 yeast cakes of compressed yeast & keep it warm while rising
