Baked Berry Pudding or Cake Mrs. Dodge. 1/2 cup sugar 1 qt. flour (3 cups) 1 teaspoon salt 2 " (large) baking powder 1 qt berries or cherries or what fruit you may have. Stir these all together, then add small 1/2 cup melted butter & about 1 pt. of milk Stir well. add 1 egg if you please - bake in small dripping pan. For sauce sugar & cream or any sweet pudding sauce. Same from Mrs. Brown 1/2 cup sugar 1 tablespoon butter (small) 1 egg - salt - 1 pt cold water, 2 tablespoons baking powder in flour enough to make a stiff cake. Turn this mixture over a qt. of fruit. Make a sweet sauce.
