an apple dumpling. It was pretty good. Friday, Feb. 2nd. Make cookies today - they were tolerable. Began to study Latin. May is going to give me a lesson every day beginning Monday. Saturday 3rd. I made bread today & it was very good - as good as Nellie makes. Kneading it was the hardest part & all my Knuckles are sore. I spent the afternoon & evening at Allies. good time - of course. Sunday 4th. I went to Church this morning & to Sunday School this afternoon. Mr. Countryman preached. After Sunday School I read one of Theodore Parker's sermons - subject "Old age."
