Monday, 5th. This morning I washed the dishes & did various little jobs. It is Linns birthday & Grace, Alice & Louise & I spent the evening with her. We had a very pleasant time. I think that there are very few people, who have such a tact for entertaining company, as Linn. She never allows anybody to feel awkward & out of place. I think when she is a young lady she will be the Dubuque belle without rival unless it is May Blossom or Mabel Graves. I dread getting to be a "young lady." May does not. Linns birthday. Tuesday, 6th. Today I made a black pudding. It was eatable. I go to school at twenty minutes past two, P. M. to recite
