Whitney Rodgers Recipes for various Diseases. To cure Ring-worms and seald heads Take of [illegible] [illegible] of Mercury two drams. [illegible] [Hogs-land?] 3 Ounces rub the [Precipated?] powder as fine as you can with a knife or a [white?] plate and then mix the [illegible] and powder together with the knife so that the powder may be distributed equally in every part of the [land?] Shave off the [hair?] [illegible] the disease and rub in a little of the Ointment well with your finger twice a day untill quite [illegible] It never fails if [illegible] in untill all the [illegible] is gone. For Pains in the stomach. Take of spanish juice (commonly call liquorice half and ounce) disolve it in warm wter and drink this quantity daily untill well. To make Mustard Whey. Take Mustard seed [bruised?] an ounce and half milk and water of each one pint boil it all together untill the [curd?] is properly seperated then strain it off. The dose a Tea-cup full two or three times a day. It is good in the [illegible] and Dr. [illegible] saith it will supply the place of wine in Nervous fevers. An Excellent Liniment for Rhumatism and [illegible] [illegible] in any part. Take [illegible] Balsom of sulpher and Honey of each two ounces and spirits of [illegible] [illegible] one ounce Mix it well together. Rub some it well in with the hand and cover the place with either soft flannel, glove leather or brown paper if you can get it. Dinner Pill so called because taken at dinner at dinner time. Take of [illegible] [illegible] and gum. [illegible] equal parts. [illegible]- glafs Boiled in Spirits of Wine. Produces a good sement for broken glass. To drive bugs from bed. Put some [illegible] in a [illegible] and hang it up to the head of your bead or sprinkle some [illegible] Lavender upon the bed sheets.
