2 heaping teaspoons baking powder 1 tablespoon butter rubbed in mix quickly with 1 cup water, or milk, and make soft dough. Bake 20 min. in quick oven. Ma's Brown Bread 2 cups Meal; 1/2 cup Molasses teaspoon salt. Scald with hot water just enough to [set?] it up. Let it cool put in 1 cup flour 1 cup sour milk & just before you put on to cook put in 1 teaspoon Soda 3 or 4 hours.
