- 1 - 4th month, 1927 The following is a copy out of a "little book" which Ina R. Chamness writes: "was presented to me by Merlin and Winifred, with the request by Merlin that I write about my trip to Norway in it. Ina R. Chamness, West Branch, Iowa." For near three years mamma had been feeling a concern to go to Norway, but the time to really go did not seem to come until in 4th month, 1927. She talked of taking me along and seemed to feel best to do so, tho to all outward appearances such a long journey for one so poorly as I was would seem disasterous, and our friends and neighbors highly discouraged it saying it would kill me; But mamma being well acquainted with the voice of God from her youth had faith enuf to make such a great undertaking in her very poor staite of health being as her best feelings inclined strongly that way. Georgetta went along to help care for both of us. Tho my doubts and fears were very great I kept on getting ready and packing my trunk; (or rather, they doing it for me) I was still unable to walk at all without the aid of two canes, and then only accross the floor; caused by an operation I had a few months previous and which did not help me, but only made matters worse. I lost my appetite, and suffered greatly
