- 22 - a horse trotting speed with the key. Next day mamma came back. While we were in London several of the many Friends who shook hands with us expressed their pleasure in seeing the old fashioned plain Quaker dress. And said to mamma that they were so pleased with her sermons. Adding, it was like they used to hear many years ago. We also had the pleasure of the company of Mary Longman and an elderly woman friend of hers. They both seemed so nice. Mary was quiet and serious. Soon after our return to Birmingham mamma felt a concern to attend the Progressive Friend's meeting held on First - day. The head woman, Lucy Cadbury (wife of the deceased George Cadbury) sat mamma and Georgetta entirely at the head of the meeting. And after mamma had spoken Lucy Cadbury stood up and spoke of her great appreciation for the message the Friend from America had for them; and what a long distance we had come. And how nice it was to see us represent the old fashioned plain Quaker dress. And much more to the same effect. Many expressed their gratitude after meeting. And one
