- 25 - the Lord's great goodness to we poor ones all the way. It seemed that the people's hearts were opened more than usual to receive and help us all they could. For, we met with great kindness every where we came: and from entire strangers alse. We crossed the North Sea in twenty-four hours. I was seasick all the way, Georgetta was enuf to keep her bed, but not bad. Mamma was not sick but felt a little inclination to be. I felt weak and was pale when we reached Stavanger, Norway. After the boat had stopped awhile, Uncle Tobias and Tharof Bryne came on board. I was introduced to them and thot to myself (of Uncle) 'he looks like an uncle and not a stranger. He carried me off the boat and put me in a taxi. Soon cousin, Pauline and her aunt Karine and aunt Jergine met us. I felt at home with sweet smily Pauline at once and she was so surprised that I could talk Norwegian. We were soon taken to a fine Hotel where Tosten Bryne had engaged a room for us. We did not get dinners until two o'clock. So I got very hungry waiting so long. Stavanger Yearly Meeting commenced on Fifth - day and ended on the next Second - day.
