- 29 - thing so grand as this. The conductor pulled the seats out so I could lie down; and seemed very much interested in conversing with us, and so kind. He had two sons in America. Mamma did not want me to lie down much; as she said I must look at the rocks, mountains, waters, turv fields and little houses, barns, goats and sheep of her dear old Norway! There was snow in places tho it was past the middle of Sixth month. We went thru many tunnels; and, some places our train went quite slowly along side of great high rocky mountains. When we reached Flekkefjord station a big seven passenger Buick was hired to take us twenty-one miles to 'Myren'. Mamma, Sarah and Georgetta in the back, Uncle, Auntie and Jessie in the center and the driver and I in the front. He was a fine driver; and we rode along at the rate of thirty-five to forty miles an hour mostly except when going around curves; or, when meeting some one else. The roads were smooth and beautiful, with rocks on one side forming sort of a railing; and usually high mountains on the other side. Way up high on the sides of mountains we rode round and round curve after curve; and down thru the valleys til we knew nothing of the directions in which
