{illegible} Nov 5th/ 71 My dear Sister No words of ours can express the emotions of grief we feel all not only your great loss but ours. For us all loved him second only to a parent's Love, is not so unexpected and yet not unlooked? for in the distance had we Expected any thing of the kind. Some of us would have been with you in his last hours. It has seemed as though {illegible} can not get over the sad news. She liked Lee as she did no other cousin. SHe has been sick ever since we got the dispatch. We have had no particulars of his death and are awaiting anxiously for a letter from you. All are here. Will write you soon. {illegible} Ward
