Pine Plains Oct 4th 1859 John H. Knapp Esq D. Sir I rec'd yours inclosing a letter from Mr. Macky and wrote to you directed to Fort Madison Iowa. I wrote then & now think that there would not be a prospect of my brother Henry's reformation here & I do not suppose he would come as his condition now is he would dislike to see his former friends & acquaintain here. The probability is he may where he is. I wrote to Henry & to Mr. Macky that I would take his little girl & bring her up. I should think it would be well that she should be where her relatives naturally interested in her welfare could take care of her. Truly Yrs Wm Eno
