Every western [union?] paper is filled with strong letters and nsolutions from the Army and the rascals are quailing under them I sent from Frank a paper with an extract from one of Henry's letters did you see it? Henry is still a Private at Nashville in the 10th [illegible] [Inf(antry)?] his officers have recommended him for promotion and I have hope of getting the position of Major for him - he is said to be among the best drill masters in the regiment. he understood it before he joined the Army + was detached to drill the Officers + men of his company. he has seen a good deal of hard service + been fortunate to escape
