Sep 26th Beautiful Weather. Wrote a letter to Sally and also one to sis Nancy. Took a stroll over the mountain and camp. The fortifications are aa yet in an unfinished state but when completed and taking into consideration the natural advantages, a well disciplined force could hold it against ten times their numbers. Something peculiar in those mountains tops is that there is abundance of pure water for braking out evry few rods in never failing quantities at or near the verry summit. The mountain scenery from here is in the most sublime of any I have seen since I come into this state. Only
