Bardstown the County Seat of Nelson County. It is a fine looking town of some 3 or 4000 inhabitants and co[n]tains some princely residences as is noted for its Catholic Cathedral, nursery, and schools, the building and grounds of which are verry nice. Weather clear. Dec. 13th. On the march again at 8 o'clock and marched 13 miles and encamped near the village of Newhaven a small place of 200 300 inhabitants situated on the Lebanon Junction R.R. Beautiful country until about 5 miles back we began to come among the brakes
