Regiment had to turn out. Jan 3rd Tierd and Sleepy wrote a letter to Sally. Went to bed early but had not got to sleep before there was another false alarm was made so I had to get up and take charge of the company and parade in the rain awhile and then go back to quarters. Lieut McKinney went home on furlough for 15 days. Rained all day. no duty to perform. Jan 4. Raining all day. with some snow. I forgot to say that I received 2 let
