was fired by the batteries encamped here. Lieut. Rollin Conwell took dinner with me today. Feb 23rd. Weather mild and clar. Nothing of importance transpiring [but?] in the afternoon we ware ordered to draw Cartridges enough to make 100 rounds to each man and provisions for 7 days and to be ready to march at an hours notice which news was received with shouts of joy by the boys as all are anctious to be moveing forward so as to be nearer the enemy. Our rout will be Southward. Wrote a letter to Orrilla & Nancy. Looked anctiously for a letter from home but none came.
