Weather more moderate. Mar 7th. On the march at 7 Oclock. Marched 15th miles through a beautiful and well improved country. Passed through the town of Franklin the county seat of Simpson Co. Encamped at Mitchellville 2 miles in the State of Tennisee. Mar 8th On the march again at 7 Oclock. Marched 21 miles country good. Quite freely intersperesed with running water. Weather good. Road from Boling Green so far pike except 7 miles South of Franklin which is verry muddy. Farms are all quite large and slaves plenty.
