12 Other Club Benefactions. The Cary Club has helped in many civic ventures. In 1909 an Old Ladies Home was opened in Marion. Our club donated pillows for this house also each member gave articles for use there and asked thier friends for donations. The club also donated fifty cents per month toward the care of a Mrs Fuller in this house. In 1920 the clubs served meals at the Marion Fair and the Cary's did thier bit in helping. The clubs cleared one thousand dollars ($1000.00) from these meals and this was given to the park fund, Thomas Park having been purchased about that time. The sugar left from the fair meals was divided amonth the clubs, made into candy and sold for the benefit of the City Rest Room opened near that time. Money from the club treasury has been donated to the Red Cross.
