14 War and Red Cross Activities In 1918 our club donated five dollars ($5.00) from its treasury to the Red Cross and later on each member gave ten cents per month to that organization. That year the club typed its year's programs and the money saved was given to the Red Cross. Much knitting was done by club members. During that year. Seven all day special meetings were held, at which the club members sewed for the Red Cross, making clothing for the Belgian children. These garments were mostly made from heavy, dark, woolen material from patterns of the simplest design, furnished by the Red Cross, not attractive but durable and warm. We furnished the material for the garments we made. A list of garments made by the club is found in a clipping in the large Secty book Pg 295.
