May 20 1913 The Womans Christian Temperence Union met as usual in the Congregational Church parlor on May 20. Sang "Rescue the Perishing"- After repeating the 23 Psalm Miss Stocks led in prayer. The Treasurer reported the offering at Mrs Lawsons lecture to be $4.17 the expense was $7.30 Bal. $3.13 which was very little for such a fine speaker. One new member was obtained Miss Reprogle. Minutes read and approved. Rev. Viola Smith then read a paper on the initiative Referendum and Recall explaining these mysterious terms so clearly that a vote of thanks was given her. A vote of thanks was also given to Mr Elifton for donating his services at the lecture. Mrs Clarkson and Miss Jennie Bailey were appointed a com. to help Miss Clark with the flowers to be sent to Mitchelville. Voted to send 30 cents to Supt. of Flower Missions, the Comm. that visited Parker and South School gave their report After telling of the faithful teachings in the rooms it was very discourageing to Learn that nearly evry boy of Parker School used tobacco. It was voted to send for Anti Cigarette Leaftets for use in the Sunday Schools. The Celebration of July 4th was spoken of and we hope to be represented in the Parade. Meeting closed by repeating the mizpah. 18 Ladies Present. Georgia Turner Sec.
