May 19, 1914 Our W.C.T.U. met in the Presbyterian church May 19. meeting called to order by Mrs. Lincoln our President. Sang, "Christ and His Cause." Devotional exercises were led by Rev. Laurence, who read the 10 Psalm and sang "The Suffering Poor" Mrs. Meecham Superintendant of Scientific Temperance was to award the prize given for the best essay on temperance and won by Agatha Lovig. Moved and sec. to give .50 for Flower Mission Day, carried Moved and sec. to give help in buying garbage can if asked to-do so. carried. Moved and sec. to meet one week later than our usual time or whenever we could arrange with Mrs. Barnard to hold our next meeting or Institute. Moved and sec. that Scarlet and Black was to be commended for refusing to publish tobacoo advertisements. carried. We were to send flowers on the 28th of June to Miss Sadie Clark, on "Flower Mission Day" who with her assistants were to send boquets and with each boquet a calling card on which was written a scripture verse, to the girls of Mitchellville. Our delegates then gave us a very inspiring account of the con. at Oskaloosa. The State con. was to be held at Creston. The 9th district was to have a float. Mrs. Norris is Cor. sec. of 9th district and Mrs. Barnard is President. Our Union asked the Ministerial Association. The Brotherhood, Commercial Club, and the college to telegraph our Senator and Representative at Wash. to support the Pro. Am. They did so. dismissed by Rev. Laurance.
