On December 19, 1922 the Grinnell W.C.T.U. met at the pleasant home of Mrs. E. M. Kearney. Mrs. (?) Hutchins read the scriptures bringing out the truth in all its beauty and after the reading she offered an effectual prayer appealing to our creator for help in the times great need. After the devotionals our president took charge of the business to be considered. Sec. report read and approved. A letter from Mrs. Marie Jones was read and considered. Mrs. Kearney moved that in our meeting(?) with what had been sent to Mrs. Jones we would send a (?) of furnish(?). Motion carried. The chair appointed Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Heisel and Phillips as program committee. The stickers were received and distributed. An interesting program followed the business meeting. Piano solo by Isabella Beaton(?) was listened to with pleasure. Mrs. Hamilton read a lengthy [crossed out] well prepared paper on child welfare bringing us several things of interest(?) in connection with this work(?). Mrs. Hamilton brought us several valuable thoughts from the convention on this special work. Dr(?) Whiling says "if the great grandfather used a pipe(?) the grand father a cigar, the father a cigarette what is going to become of the boys? Mrs. Stocks gave some thoughts on this work. Mrs. Lincoln leaving Mrs. Stocks(?) took the chair. Our future welfare will depend firstly on(?) the religious training secondly the home (?) and
