149 The December 1923 meeting met with Mrs E.M. Kearney on the 18th of the month. The meeting opened with a song "All Around the World. Mrs. Woodburn led in the devotionals and read the Christmas story. The birth and sarificial death. After the scripture several prayers were offered. followed with the song Holy Night The bill of 3.50 was allowed. Grinnell will have a jubilee meeting in January. Our county uniting with Jasper County to celebrate the occasion of the 18th amendment and the fiftieth aniversary of the Womans Crusade. It was officially agreed that the president appointt such committee as she chooses, to look after this occasion. Miss Buck was allowed eight dollars for convention expense. A letter of interest from Miss Lois Woodburn was read describing some of her experience in Egypt. The letter included a prize essay of credit that one of the native children composed. Subject - "What would Egypt be Without Drink". Mrs. Griffith took charge of program She called in Rev. Todd to speak on the law of God concerning man. Emphasizing the real duty of a Christian in regard to the principles of God found in the fifth chapter of Mathew, He simplified the use of "real" - and ideal in connection with the scriptures. Miss Buck gave a brief report of the state convention. Ms. [Kemp?] - a field worker from Cal. [favored?] us with her presence and gave in a ten minutes speech. Touching on interesting phases of the work in the Western section. Miss [Paulon] and Miss [Soiver?] rendered the Poet and Peasant Overture. There was 36 present Meeting closed by benediction.
