162 The October 21, 1924 meeting met at its usual dating with Mrs. Pearl Garner. 1326 Elm Street. The president opened the meeting with a song "All around the World" after which Mrs C. S. Words read the the 55th chap of Isaiah "Ho every one that thirsteth and offered prayer, asking Gods divine blessing to rest on meeting. A Jubilee sung The world is going Dry", Following the devotionals the reports of the State convention was given. The convention was held at Cedar Rapids the city where the state W.C.T.U. was organized fifty years ago. It is reported over 700 delegates were present. There were seven from out local union that attended. named: Mrs. Robert Lincoln, Mrs. Effie Stocks Mrs. Chas. S. Woods, Mrs Roy Cole, Mrs John [Gerus?] Miss Harriett Buck, and Mrs. E. M. Kearney. The convention was held in the Christ Church of Cedar Rapids excepting the memorial service which was held in the presbyterian church where the state WCTU. was organized 50 years ago. There were only 35 ladies present representing the fire unions in the state A report from Mrs. Cole of the Tuesday evening meeting was as follows addresses of welcome by the mayor JW Roll. Charles D Manson secretary of the commercial club and J.S. Lilly president of the ministerial association. Mo Manson in his address made mention that the W.C.T.U excelled every other organization in doing-during the war for the H. Des Moines hospital. Responses to the welcome addresses were given. Mis. Smith reviewed the work that has done and planned for future interest. We were favored by the Cedar Rapids gosple team singing their pieces. C. R. Parker of the Christian Church sang a solo.
