165 The November 18, 1924 WCT.U was held on the home of Mrs C.S.George on West street. President called the meeting to order and called for the song Mr Country tis of Thee to be sung. Following Mrs. H. V. Griffith led the devotionals reading very inspiring scripture, applying the same to the undertakings in this service. "Without Him we can do nothing How very dependent we are on divine help and guidance and the importance of being so close in touch that we can indeed consider that we are the branches of the living vine. following the scripture Mrs Hess, Richards and Mrs Griffith prayed. Business session included the report of Oct. meeting read by Miss Jennie Baily. Mrs Childs reported 61 qts fruit 6 glasses of jelly tur towels send to the [benedich?] Home. A bill of $.75 was presented for transportation charges. Value estimated $30. The consideration of Mrs IBW Smith expense to Edinburgh was considered no action. Mrs Effie Stocks presented bill of 1.00 for music and literature - considered Chair given the privelege of appointing committee for a Jubilee meeting in [imureslle?] of the fiftieth year since its organization. An instructive Mrs Stock opened the program report was read by Mrs Stock on Child Welfare interest. She gave startling reports of social conditions, weakness of law in Iowa in not protecting her people from unecessary burdens Mrs Brownell read an interesting article also Emma Baily refering to state officals Mrs Mitchel sang It is there to stay Mrs Waters gave a short talk. Committee selected for Jubilee, meeting Mrs. Kearney, Mrs. Stocks and Mrs. Cole, Two life diplomas were presented to Mrs Hess and Mrs. Richards, words of appreciation by these members were given in behalf of the honor bestowed. Thirty eight present two new members, added to our number making 20. Close by reporting Mizpah
